Exploiting Traffic
The other day I told you about how I have built traffic for two of my sites. Jason Cain has a good post about how Matt Drudge is an idiot. And he just sent me an awsome special report explaining exactly what he means!
You see, Matt Drudge gets over 7,000,000 visitors each day to his website. What would you do with that kind of traffic?
You could sell a simple $5 report. With a conversion rate of 1% you’d make a profit of about $350,000 per day!
Even if you sold some content for $0.05 via a BitPass Micropayment you’d end up making $3,500 per day with a 1% conversion rate. That’s over $1.2 million per year!
That kind of traffic can lead to some serious bucks. Of course, I don’t receive nearly that much traffic. But what am I doing to capatilize on the traffic I do get?
Here’s one preview: check out this page. I’m building a huge list of solved problems in physics. The user finds the problem, plugs in the numbers, and out pops the solution — complete and detailed.
This is a pretty powerful tool for someone trying to figure out how to solve problems in physics.
Right now the solutions are free. I’ll have over 200 available within the next few weeks, and then I’m going to start charging a micropayment of $0.99 per solution. I’m averaging over 300 visitors per day, so with a 1% conversion rate we’re talking $3 per day. That’s not much, but I’m fairly confident that those purchasing a solution will purchase more than one. And over the course of their physics class, they will be back. So I’m realistically hoping for about $10 - $20 per customer. That’s $30 - $60 per day.
Hey, that’s not millions. But that equals over $900 - $1,800 per month in passive income. And as the traffic from the site increases, so will the revenue.
Small drops in a bucket lead to a full bucket.
BTW: Go to MSN.com and type in the search box “Online Physics Classes”. Guess who is number one!
