How do I Build Traffic?
You can find articles everywhere that will show you how to build a website, a list, etc. But there is very little good information about how to get traffic to your website.
Here’s what I do: I started this blog on August 10th, and for the entire month of August I received 358 visits or about 44 per day with zero advertising. This month I’m up to 581 visits with an average of 64 per day. By the end of the month that should be about 2,000 visitors.
I haven’t spent one dime on advertising.
I went from 0 to 2,000 in two months by doing a couple of very simple things:
- I post to marketing forums
- I write comments on other marketers blogs
- I update the blog daily with fresh content and ping, ping, ping
- I write about other marketing bloggers and trackback, trackback, trackback
- I cross promote this site to my E-Bay customers
All of these traffic building techniques cost absolutely nothing. It takes time to write articles and post comments, but it’s time well spent. It’s the only way you’re going to build reliable traffic.
Soon I’ll have my free email course running and I’ll be building a list from those 2,000 visitors a month. And then I can begin pimping products, both mine and other peoples.
I’ve done the same thing to build ilovephysics.com. That site has a Google page rank of 5, comes up fourth for the keyword “physics forum” comes up high for most major physics related key words, and brings in a cool 200 visitors per day (that’s over 6,000 per month). The forum gains 2-3 new members every day. That’s traffic that comes back again and again.
ilovephysics.com has been around a little longer, but I spend nothing on advertising and I bring in over 6,000 visitors a month. KeyLiberty.com brings in 2,000. They’ll soon be paying visitors! That’s what time and a little patience will get you.
BTW: I have an average Adsense clickthrough rate of about 1.6%, so both blogs are already making money.
